Xiaomi just keeps on releasing hardware this year, China’s number one smartphone OEM has set a very interesting goal for themselves, they intend to sell 100 million smartphones by the year’s end. Xiaomi managed to sell 61 million smartphones in 2014, and in order to keep the staggering growth rate intact this China-based smartphone OEM intends to increase that number a whole lot. Xiaomi has announced a number of smartphones and smart gadgets this year, and a new one will be arriving on April 23rd. Xiaomi has been teasing the upcoming device for quite some time now and the company has even announced that they will live stream the event.

Judging by the company’s teaser and a number of rumors / leaks we’ve seen thus far, Xiaomi will announce the Mi 4i aka ‘Ferrari’ handset on said event. We cannot confirm that, of course, but the amount of available information simply points in that direction. It is possible that the company has some additional plans for said event considering that they’re going to livestream it and everything, we’ll have to wait and see. Anyhow, according to new info, the aforementioned Mi 4i handset might cost as little as 999 Yuan ($161). Yesterday's rumor actually pointed at a 1,299 Yuan ($210) price point, which is also a possibility, though this will be a mid-range handset so Xiaomi might want to push the limits yet again.
This handset actually appeared on GFXBench a while back and showed us its specifications. The Xiaomi Mi 4i will sport a 5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz will power on this device along with an Adreno 405 GPU for graphics rendering. On the back of the Xiaomi Mi 4i, you’ll be able to find a 13-megapixel shooter and a 5-megapixel snapper will allegedly be available up front. Android 5.0.2 will come pre-installed on this device with Xiaomi’s MIUI OS on top of Google’s OS.
There you have it folks, the said event is only two days away and Xiaomi might still surprise us. The Xiaomi Mi 4i will quite probably be announced at the event in India, but who knows what else Xiaomi has in store for us.
