From where can I purchase Mi products in India?

Earlier Mi devices could only be purchased from Flipkart but on Xiaomi’s 5th Anniversary more e-com partners were added. Some of the Mi products are available on Amazon, Snapdeal and of course mi.com/in. Some devices are available only via flash sales while some devices are for open sale.

From where can I purchase unboxed/refurbed Mi products?

Unboxed/refurbed Mi products can be easily purchased from Overcart, Valuecartand Greendust. Some sites like overcart also hold flash sales for unboxed/refurbed devices so keep checking it regularly while some may have open sale.

Does Xiaomi offers warranty against unboxed/refurbed products?

Yes. Unboxed/refurbed Xiaomi products are eligible for 6 months of Xiaomi India warranty.

Launch of Xiaomi in India, Personally I call it a kind of mobile revolution in India. It is the company who believes on spending small amount of money on marketing also they come with unique marketing style. Though their marketing strategy is not common now as most of other companies are following their footsteps. But because of this marketing they are able to sale devices of high specifications in a low price, I guess perfect word is "affordabe" here. With this marketing strategy and Innovations which everyone can enjoy, Mi India was launched on 15th July 2014 at an event in Delhi.Today, Company is completing its 1 year journey in India. Just before one year Hugo Barra ( V.P, Xiaomi Global) and Manu Kumar Jain (G.M, Mi India) had a media event where they announced Mi India officially. The Company started with a Small office in Bangalore, Hugo himself posted this on his Google+ page. According to his post Manu Kumar Jain and Myshkin Ingawale were the first 2 Mi India Staff that time, Today, Mi India has staff of more than 30 people. They started with small office in Bangalore but now they will be shifted to a very big and lavish office next month. The success of the company in India can be concluded when they started their first sale with 10,000 units of Mi 3 and in just 6 months they sold total 1 Million smartphones in India.

On the launch of Company, Hugo also launched Mi 3 and Redmi 1S in India. Just after 7 days Mi 3 was live on sale on 22nd July 2014. For the first sale of Mi 3 there were 1,00,000 registrations for 10,000 units. Mi 3 is still one of the best device to grab it. In just 4 sales, Mi 3 received 4.5 stars rating on Flipkart. Just five years after its launch, Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone maker, has become the world’s most valuable startup. Its market value of $46 billion (as of June 2015) is larger than that of Uber, Snapchat, or even Palantir.Last year, Xiaomi overtook Samsung to become the leader in the Chinese market. The company uses direct sales from its web site; social media; fan engagement; and weekly updates to its Android-based operating system to get ahead of rivals. It sells smartphones comparable to Samsung’s high-end models at prices that are 30-50% lower. That’s partly because Xiaomi subsidizes hardware prices, according to analysts, by selling software and services through a proprietary apps store.Strangely, Xiaomi has made no secret of its belief that India — China’s neighbor and biggest geopolitical rival in Asia — is central to the realization of its global ambitions. India has already become Xiaomi’s second largest source of revenues, after China, just a little more than a year after the company entered that competitive market.During a visit to India in late April 2015, Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun launched the India-designed Mi 4i smartphone — the first time Xiaomi has debuted a new product outside China. He wooed the Tata Group’s Ratan Tata to become an investor in the parent company. Lei Jun also said that Xiaomi intends to become more Indian by setting up a R&D center, a manufacturing facility, and a data center there, and by investing in local companies.

India will, most likely, play four roles in Xiaomi’s global game plan.

Xiaomi could grow faster in India than it did in China. While the Chinese market is close to saturation with over 70% smartphone penetration, the corresponding number for India is less than 20%. Given their lower per capita incomes, Indian customers are more price conscious than their Chinese peers, and will be drawn to Xiaomi’s products. Success in India will give Xiaomi not only revenue-growth, which will help sustain its valuations, but also the economies of scale to drive down component costs — important for the company to maintain its cost advantage.
India provides Xiaomi with a learning opportunity. In order to succeed outside China, Xiaomi must figure out how to tweak its business model. For instance, Google dominates the Android app store globally, which prevents the Chinese company from using app store revenues to subsidize smartphone prices. Figuring out how to win profitably in India, which is predominantly Android territory, will dramatically increase the prospects for success in other emerging markets. In addition, India provides Xiaomi with an opportunity to experiment with new products and business models.
Market leadership in China and India, the two biggest markets for low-priced smartphones, is critical if Xiaomi is to keep competitors at bay. They will imitate its business model: Lenovo is already experimenting with online-only sales of Motorola cellphones, a business it recently acquired. However, staying ahead in both China and India will provide Xiaomi a prestigious global edge.
Given India’s pool of technical talent, Xiaomi will get an opportunity to create a second R&D hub as well as an English-speaking technical support center there. The latter will be critical to service Xiaomi’s new markets outside China and India.

By 2025, China will be the largest, and India the third-largest, economy in the world. Consequently, a growing number of companies from the two countries will regard success in each other’s markets as critical elements of their global strategies. That might well change the very nature of the political and economic ties between China and India

Xiaomi, which currently sells devices in India through homegrown e-commerce major Flipkart, will bring in its website 'Mi.com' to India in the latter part of the year.

NEW DELHI: Chinese handset maker Xiaomi will start selling smartphones in India later this year through its own portal as it looks to beef up its presence in one of the world's fastest growing devices market.

Xiaomi, which currently sells devices in India through homegrown e-commerce major Flipkart, will bring in its website 'Mi.com' to India in the latter part of the year.

"We are currently looking for warehousing and logistics partners in India, as well as deciding on a payment mechanisms like cash on delivery. It may take anywhere between three-to-nine months," Xiaomi India head Manu Jain told PTI.

He added that the Beijing-based firm will continue its association with Flipkart.

Currently, the company sells devices through its website in most countries of operations, except India and Indonesia.

Xiaomi recently launched its new handset — Mi 4 — in India for Rs 19,999 as it seeks to expand its operations here.

"We have always stated that India is one of our most important markets. We are big plans for India this year... We are in process of signing the lease on a facility in Bangalore, which will be our R&D unit. This is the first one outside China," Jain said.

India is one of the largest markets for Xiaomi outside of China. The company has so far, launched three devices in India, Mi 3, Redmi 1S and Redmi Note. The cumulative sales have crossed a million units since the first launch in July 2014.

According to research firm IDC, India is the fastest growing smartphone market in the Asia Pacific region with about 82% growth in the July-September quarter of 2014 over the same period last year. The growth is being driven by increasing preference of consumers to upgrade to smartphones as well as shorter refresh cycles.

The shipments grew 82% year-on-year to 23.3 million units in the third quarter of this year, while it was higher by 27% on a quarter-on-quarter basis, IDC said in a statement.

Samsung was the leader in the smartphone market with 24% share, followed by Micromax (20%), Lava and Karbonn (8% each) and Motorola (5%) in the third quarter of 2014.

Founded in 2010 by serial entrepreneur Lei Jun, Xiaomi is often referred to as the 'Apple of China' and featured in Boston Consulting Group's top 50 most innovative companies in the world list last year. It ranks at the third spot with 5.3% share of the global shipment in the July-September 2014 quarter, after Samsung (23.8%) and Apple (12%).
